Okay it's penne because they didn't sell Italian-branded macaroni at the supermarket. And I steamed the brocolli a lil too far and it kinda died in the soup but see it comes with whole shitake mushrooms and ginko nuts!

calling it a day
the day started in the afternoon for me, past three, and it was a cool day, being end of summer. the train at the station nearby was always a long wait, and i decided to have a cup of hot corn soup while waiting for the train to arrive. i had about five minutes with the soup so i pushed the "lukewarm" button. in this country you always know exactly when the train arrives.
the rest of the day didn't turn out so well. the food was good, but somehow it just didn't feel like it worked out. i'm sure i'm not the only one familiar with that feeling. the trip back was long and tiring too, having decided to go somewhere a little out of the way.
it is always hard to decide when and how to call it a day, especially on days when you feel like there's something you could have done better. it crossed my mind to visit the local cafe and see some familiar faces before heading home, but i was feeling just too tired. with earphones buried in my ears jamming rap to keep me on the beat, i rode the transit train back to the station near home. on the way to the stairs i saw the vending machine at which my day began. i dropped in my coin for a soup.
it's surprising how something as simple as a soup can make the day feel so complete. between the soup in the afternoon and the soup at night, everything seemed somehow to have come full circle - and no detail seemed to matter more than the fact that, there was soup. every day should really be this easy.
